Traveling With Food Allergies: What an App Can and Cannot Confirm
How to use menu analysis responsibly when ingredients and cross-contact matter.

Menu analysis can help you notice ingredient words and ask better questions. It cannot certify that a dish is safe for a medical allergy.
What menu analysis can do
It can highlight ingredients stated on the menu, connect common dish names with typical components, and prepare a phrase that asks staff to confirm a concern.
What it cannot see
Menus may omit sauces, stocks, garnishes, substitutions, or shared cooking equipment. Recipes can change between locations and shifts. Cross-contact is rarely written on a menu.
Use a direct confirmation
For serious allergies, show the staff phrase and ask the restaurant to confirm the recipe and preparation process. If clear confirmation is not possible, choose the safer option rather than relying only on an app result.
